History
From our beginnings as one of the founding clubs of the
Northern Suburbs Netball Association, the club has grown
over the years to now boast one of the largest
memberships within the Association.
Here’s a quick peak at the club’s very early years as
well as some of our more recent achievements….
1969 – A couple of teams were formed by
interested locals under the guidance of the
Willoughby Council Recreation Officer. However, the
closest competition was hosted by the Manly Warringah
Netball Association. A uniform was proposed that would
distinguish the teams from others competing in Manly.
It comprised a bone (obligatory) box pleated tunic and a
brown and white checked shirt.
1971 – Northern Suburbs Netball Association
was formed with competition taking place at Hallstrom
Park.
2004 – Four teams won their grade. The club was
awarded the ‘Junior Club Championship Trophy’ from NSNA
and were joint winners of the 'Senior Club Championship
Trophy’.
2005 – Success again for four teams in the
Grand Finals and the club was joint recipients of NSNA’s
Junior Club Championship.
2006 – Nine teams made it to the grand finals
with seven winning their divisions. The club was
awarded the ‘Junior Club Championship Trophy’ from NSNA
and were joint winners of the 'Senior Club Championship
Trophy’.
2007 – Again Willoughby United received the
Junior Club Championship. Four senior and six junior
teams made it to the Grand Final.
2009 – Willoughby United became an
Incorporated Association, now known as Willoughby United
Netball Club Inc. A copy of our updated
Constitution has
been included for your interest.
2010 – 10 junior teams and 9 senior teams finished in
the top 4 of their division and progressed into the
finals series. 5 junior teams and 1 senior team were
overall winners of their division
